Exercising in your "zone" helps you achieve cardiovascular benefits, burn fat and become more physically fit. To achieve an effective workout, no matter what the aerobic activity, it's important to maintain your heart rate within a proper "zone."
To achieve an effective workout it is recommended that you maintain your heart rate at a proper level for a minimum of 20 minutes. In general, the proper level falls between 65 percent and 85 percent of your maximum heart rate (MHR).
